AAA Northern New England Donates $25,000 to Foundation

Concord, NH... American Automobile Association (AAA) Northern New England has donated $25,000 to the Community Colleges of New Hampshire Foundation. The award enables the Foundation to provide scholarships to students in automotive technology programs. The gift was presented by Nick Wallner, AAA Branch Manager, and Rebecca Bernier, NH Regional Manager, at the Foundation Board of Directors March meeting.

The AAA scholarship award has been offered annually since the Foundation organized in the year 2000. AAA has been committed to the System and its automotive programs, providing over $220,000 to the Foundation's endowment over the past eight years. AAA's generosity helps the Community College System promote the highest standards in its automotive technology programs.

AAA Scholarships awards are distributed to community college students annually in the fall at five of the seven Colleges in the Community College System: White Mountains Community College in Berlin, Lakes Region Community College in Laconia, Manchester Community College, Nashua Community College, and Great Bay Community College in Stratham. Two of the System Colleges: NHTI - Concord's Community College and River Valley Community College in Claremont, do not offer automotive technology programs.

Foundation Chairperson Claudette Mahar had this to say about the gift: “We are grateful for AAA's partnership with the Community Colleges.Their generosity goes a long way to help train the region's automotive technology workforce. Our graduates are constantly in demand by an industry that is an important part of the state's economy.”

The Community Colleges of New Hampshire Foundation was incorporated in February 2000 as a 501(c)(3) corporation. The Foundation is overseen by a Board of Directors. The Foundation's mission is to support the Community College System of New Hampshire and make higher education more accessible.
